My horse is broken!
OMG are horses temperamental!
So, I thought…but then my trainer offered an unequivocal fact, “this is a well-trained horse, I trained her myself.”
Translation: Naw girl, it ain’t the horse, it’s you!
Why is this news so disappointing for my big girl ears? Plainly, I am impatient. I want to know everything already. You see, I am an Educator. Perhaps you’ve heard the saying that teachers make the worse students. Generally, teachers will agree with this assessment (both of my hands are raised). No doubt the quip was started by an educator.
Caution: a bit of a whine will ensue…
I hated being a beginner at many things. No patience for it. I hate being a beginner at riding.
Due to the geographical distance, I can only train on the weekends. Obviously, this impedes my training and development into a competitive equestrian. Additionally, I’m no spring chick. You know that can’t teach an old dog new tricks saying is relevant here…or would threaten relevance had my hip nieces not affectionately named me Auntie Foxi Roxi. Roxi has become my alter ego. She’s quite adventurous and looks for opportunities to challenge herself. Curiously ask her, “so what do you do?” Her sassy reply, “whatever I want.” And right now, her strongest desire is to master riding in rhythm with a horse. Even after she’s mastered this, she won’t stop. She/I/We have become a bonafide horse lover! Can’t stop, won’t stop.
